This is the most cohesive and likeable V.A. album yet.  Far more radio and hum-along, hard-alternative, indie garage punk-pop, and downright METAL songs side by side.  Still as oddly varied and diverse as the VERTICAL AFTER concept always is : this album shows influence by Nine Inch Nails or Korn sometimes or Anthrax other times, yet played more like Green Day or a college garage rock band does things.  The band flew in a top concert pianist from London England to complete a six minute ultra-soothing jazz whisper to end this mostly METAL album.  Also 2 gutwrenching quiet sad songs.  The record exec responsible for Fear Factory and Slipknot called this album 'excellent' and V.A. 'a cool band'.

A lavish and entertaining mishmash of song styles and genres.
The KINGS X influence is audible in more than what Doug Pinnick did to its sounds and mix, however, many of these songs go from acoustic Neil Young meets STP meets REM cynisism to thrash-metal to garage hip-hop in the SAME 3 MINUTES.  Ahead of its time considering the breakthrough that System of a Down had 18 months later with the same metal-Devo-Monty Python format.   A few Green Day like pop-punk numbers and a few outright METAL numbers round out the swan song to the 1998 death of the band's guitarist Stewart Langille. Includes the song Best Friend Died. Guest appearances by members of PunchDrunk and Minority.

Note :  Do not order this video unless you really really like cheesy 80's metal, Gwar, 'hair-metal', Spinal Tap, and the Monkees.
