BIO FILE

VERTICAL AFTER 's founding members were jamming in the metal 80's and really got going just as the early 90's grunge and new-punk high points were starting to give way to today's flavors.  Drummer Keith and guitarist / vocalist Kick had put little bands together since Keith was the only 12 year old at school with a full drum kit and parents with ear-plugs.  Stewart Langille, until his death in 1998, was the co-guitarist with some lead vocal and co-writing contributions.      R.I.P. Stewy, don't take hell over.

In the 1990's, VERTICAL AFTER relentlessly toured rock clubs all over the USA and Canada, playing in 35 major cities repeatedly.  The band plugged into every college or indie-friendly radio station possible including good airplay for 1995's 'The O.J. Song' ( based on Hendrix's 'Hey Joe' theme ), and received press and cool reviews from every possible indie-friendly rock publication and 'zine with the 'Powered By Crime' album.  V.A.'s videos have received play on Canada's MTV (Much Music) see photo and also on 'Wayne'sWorld' -type indie cable shows around the US and Canada.

VERTICAL AFTER has played as support act in L.A. for  ICE-T's Body Count, Bruce Dickinson, Mick Cripps (of L.A. Guns), and Dee Snider's Widowmaker, in New York opening for Twisted Sister, and at fesivals including the 'F' Forum, and the Milwaulkee Metal Fest in '95 and '99 ( headlined by bands like GWAR, Anthrax, Cradle of Filth, Flotsam & Jetsam ).  A few of the many other bands V.A. has backed up live are KINGS X, Green Day, the Forgotten Rebels, D.O.A., Metal Church, Annihilator, Lemonheads, Bif Naked's early band Chrome Dog, Devin Townsend (of Strapping Young Lad) 's band Grey Skies.

until the BLOODY MURDO album and tour 2002, VERTICAL AFTER was :

On a personal fun note, Vertical After has had a long standing tradition of big Las Vegas party road trips.  It originated when the band would have a show in Phoenix, and their next show was scheduled a few days later in L.A..   Initially Vertical After was lured in by cheap hotels and free drinks, then soon it became part of every tour schedule, next the band was flying in buddies and girlfriends, then BOOM! Kick started organizing non-gig trips where a dozen or so rockers, members of other happenin' bands, chicks and pals would load into the Vertical After tourbus and then a handful more would fly in from various locations to meet everyone.  We're talking free big name hotels, free booze, free lobster buffets, and believe it you may not...   massive gambling wins on almost every trip.
